BEHIND THE PRINTS OF UNIQUELY PACIFIC

Introducing... Teleise Neemia from Uniquely Pacific
IG: @uniquelypacific

Creative talent: Artist/Designer

What do you love most about it?

I love that I can apply my heritage and culture to art and designs and also having the flexibility on how my art is created, whether it is a computer-generated image/print or hand painted.
The biggest love is being able to share with people who love what I do. It's a blessing to be able to do what I love and love what I do.

How would you describe your fashion style?

Back in the day, I’d be strutting down K’Road in Auckland thinking I was cool haha but these days I’m about comfort. I do like bright and colourful patterned fabric. This year I’m planning to launch head scarves that reflect my art and eventually a clothing line.

Career Highlight:

Everything that happens to me seems to be a career highlight but if I had to pick one it would be launching Uniquely Pacific 7 years ago.

Is there a particular place or person that inspires you in life?

People: I’m inspired by so many people, mainly those who strive for more in life and work hard to achieve their goals.

Place: Desert Road in NZ is probably one of my fave places to drive through. It’s a scenic drive that always takes my breath away and always in awe of God’s creations like hills and valley. I’m also a person that likes to stop and smell the roses.

Best piece of advice you have ever had?

My mum's words, “Fai ma uma” which means “do it and finish”.

I remember working on a commissioned piece for Laidlaw Bible College. It was the biggest piece I had done at that time and was having moments where I felt so overwhelmed. I was 2nd guessing myself in something that I had passionately agreed too and unsure whether I could finish it.

At that moment my mum reminded me how far I had come and how I had completed four pieces. Her simple words ‘Fai ma Uma’ gave me the push I needed to get it done and to always remember how far I have come.
