5 MINUTES WITH HIP HOP AND POLY DANCER, DAVE KURESA

Introducing... Dave Christopher Benjamin Kuresa
IG:  @uceindenim

Creative talent: Creating and performing Hip-hop/Polynesian dance.

What do I love most about it?

In terms of dancing, creating my own pieces, I love the challenge of being different. I don’t aspire to re-do what’s been done but pride myself on stepping away from the norm and producing unique work.

How would you describe your fashion style?

If I’m not in training clothes, I’m wearing 90’s vintage; a pair of black chucks, denim overalls, a clean tee and I’m good to go.

Career Highlight:

I’ve done a lot of exciting things over the years but my top two would have to be:

  1. Te Vaka; ‘Songs of Moana’ Tour – An awesome experience showcasing Polynesian culture to the world.
  2. ‘The Heartbreak Show’ – Which was a staged production highlighting a personal period in my life.

Is there a place or person that inspires you in life?
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

His work ethic is second to none, always humble and kind, and most importantly, he’s Samoan (also my cousin). Still got his posters all over my room.

Best Podcast Series: Josh Bridges, Pay The Man.

Best piece of advice received:

“What you do in secret, God sees the most”.

“Sa Le fo’I”, meaning “Never turn back”.
