Fakatu'i 'o Tonga

Tonga, the Friendly Islands, consists of three main island groups: Tongatapu in the south, Ha’apai in the center, and Vava’u in the north. Interestingly, Tonga lacks rivers, though ‘Eua and Niuatoputapu have creeks.

The majority of the population is of Polynesian descent, with a minor Melanesian influence from contact with Fiji. Tongans predominantly live in villages in traditional rectangular structures known as fale, with roofs and sides made from coconut leaves, reeds, or timber.
